STATUS as of
August 2007
It has been a while since you subscribed for the Cx3 and you must have been
wondering what has been going on since. A number of activities have been
going on the last few months.
The people that are working on it are Brian Gharst,
Paul Rhoads, Greg Hansen, Tony Graham, Thomas Rydbeck, Joel Anderson,
Kingsley Sawyers and Hans van der Veeke.
-
Some highlights:
There are now 91 subscribers for the set.
-
An introduction to the set has been written by Bob
Lacovara, the founder of Cosmopolis.
-
The volunteer index is nearly finished. Greg, Paul
and Brian have put a lot of effort in it.
-
To give an example on how this probably will look
(issue#, page#):

Kingsley has been busy with the non-volunteer
aspects of the index. He is about two-thirds done.
-
Tony Graham has developed his own mini-VDAE-like
tool to generate lists of words to help us fill in our index.
-
Thomas Rydbeck has written a glossary of VIE jargon
which will be included in the books also.
We are in the beginning stage of developing the various Tables of
Contents for the set. We plan to provide a comprehensive all-issue Table
of Contents, as well as a few specialized Tables to simplify finding
certain articles and
features.
-
There will be 3 folio volumes, designed to accord
nicely with the Readers edition.
-
Many of the physical aspects of the set have been
decided on, with the help of Stefania Zacco.
-
Things have been going slower during the holidays.
Understandable, we all need a break.
-
Thanks to a subsidy of the former VIE project the
price of the books for the first 75 subscribers will be around 100 euros. The price for subscribers with a number higher than 75 will be around
220 euros.
-
We estimate to be finished with the index before
the end of March (2008). Then will the task of composing begin. Before we
will go to print, we will ask for a deposit to be paid. People who pay
this, will keep their number. People who do not, lose their number and
the people after them will move up one place.
